Some of the features that make Heat & Glo products standout include:

Direct-vent Fireplaces

We Carry Heat & Glo Products Image - Royal Oak MI - FireSide Hearth & HomeDirect-vent gas fireplaces have become the industry gold standard because they provide the cleanest and most efficient heat. Heat & Glo was the first company to offer direct-vent technology. The technology brings cold air in from the outside to fuel fireplace combustion. At the same time it is venting away fireplace byproducts, such as carbon monoxide.

Power Vents

Sometimes natural air flow isn’t enough to allow for the proper ventilation of a direct-vent fireplace. The vents could be too long, feature twists and turns, or even vent through the floor hindering proper ventilation. With Heat & Glo, your ventilation system can be fitted with a power vent to keep the air flowing in and out of your gas fireplace.

With a Heat & Glo gas fireplace or gas fireplace insert, you can increase efficiency with FireBrick firebox technology. Thick ceramic material is used to construct the firebox rather than metal. The FireBrick ceramic radiates up to 25 percent more heat from the firebox, heating your home with less fuel faster. FireBrick also provides an attractive look that closely mimics traditional masonry fireboxes.

Intellifire Ignition

Heat & Glo gas fireplaces feature Intellifire Ignitions, which use less fuel and reduce home energy bills. Unlike traditional gas fireplace pilots, Intellifire Ignition features a pilot light that is only on when the fireplace is in use. That can save you up to $10 per month, compared with a gas fireplace that features a perpetual pilot. In addition, Intellifire Ignition has a battery backup so the gas unit can be used as a heat source during a power outage.

Heat Management

Heat & Glo systems allow you to control your fireplace’s heat output. With Heat & Glo’s heat management systems, you can direct your fireplace’s heat into the room that houses the fireplace, into nearby rooms, or even outside. This allows you to enjoy the look of the fireplace without the heat in warmer months.

LED Lighting

Your Heat & Glo unit can include LED lighting to enhance the look of the flames and help the fire to closely mimic the look of a real wood fire. More than that, the lights can be used to create a feeling of ambiance even when the fireplace is off.

Antireflective Glass

Heat & Glo fireplaces, inserts and stoves feature anti-reflective glass that cuts the glare on your fireplace by 89 percent, compared to traditional ceramic fireplace doors. That provides for a clearer view of your fire that adds to the fireplace’s beauty and realism.

All About Fireplace Accessories Image - Royal Oak MI - FireSide Hearth & HomeWhat fireplace accessories do you need?

Some accessories are more about beauty than function, but there are some fireplace accessories that you shouldn’t be without. Fireplace accessories you shouldn’t skip include:

  • Fireplace grate or andirons. Air needs to circulate around a fire for the fire to burn efficiently. A fireplace grate or andirons elevate your fire off of the ground of the firebox. Grates and andirons range from simplistic and functional to ornate and stylish. They can be a fun way to style your fireplace while getting a better burn.
  • Metal screen or spark guard. When you have an open-hearth fireplace, the fire inevitably pops and sparks. Embers can fly. Logs can shift and fall from the grate. A mesh screen or spark guard can keep burning materials in the firebox, keeping you and your family safe and saving your flooring and furniture from burn marks. Like grates and andirons, screens can be all about function or add flair to your hearth. Screens can sit upon your hearth or hang from the front of the firebox. Spark guards, meanwhile, tend to be more about safety. They provide full coverage for the open hearth to thoroughly keep sparks in.
  • Tool sets. A good tool set helps you to tend your fires. Most include a fire poker, a set of tongs, and an ash brush and ash shovel. While tool sets are a functional necessity for anyone with a fireplace, a quality set of fireplace tools can help to decorate your hearth.
  • Wood basket or stand. If you have a wood-burning fireplace, you need a place to set your wood when you bring it inside. A wood basket or wood stand can sit next to your fireplace to give you an attractive and convenient place to store your firewood.
  • Ash bucket. A metal ash bucket is a necessity when it comes to clearing away the ashes from your fireplace. A metal bucket prevents any still burning embers from igniting a fire while you dispose of your fireplace waste.

What other fireplace accessories should you consider?

There are plenty of fireplace accessories that make tending your fire easier, or that help to decorate your hearth. Those accessories include:

  • Wood carriers to help you tote wood to your hearth.
  •  Rugs to protect your flooring from flying embers.
  •  Damper pulls to help you open and close your damper.
  •  A fireback, which can decorate your firebox and help reflect heat back into your home.
  •  Gloves to help protect your hands from the heat and flames of your fireplace.
  •  Hearth mice and crickets to add a bit of traditional good luck to your hearth.
