When it comes to adding value and utility to your home, it is hard to beat a fireplace. Fireplaces are an instant upgrade to your home. You are sure to get enjoyment and reap many benefits from your fireplace. In addition, when you go to sell your home, your fireplace will add value! Some of the benefits of a new fireplace include:

  •  Increased home efficiency.
A fireplace can help you heat your home more efficiently. When you heat your home with a furnace only, you are setting your entire home temperature to the cozy temperature you desire for your living spaces. You may have unused rooms that don’t need as much heat, or you might prefer your bedrooms at a lower temperature. Fireplaces allow you to zone heat your home: With a fireplace in your central living space, you can turn down you thermostat and concentrate heat in smaller areas. More than likely in spaces where you and your family spend most of your time. This cuts your home-heating load by 20 to 25 percent.
  • Added ambiance.
Perhaps the biggest selling point of fireplace is ambiance. A fireplace adds a warm glow and a stylish statement. It provides family and friends with a beautiful gathering point.  So, are you looking to add a stylish statement to your home? Then you can’t go wrong with a fireplace!
  • An extra selling point.
When it comes time to selling your home, a fireplace can help you to market your home. In surveys, home buyers often list a fireplace as one of the top amenities they are seeking. Plus, nearly half of home buyers say they would pay more for a home with a fireplace.

What are the options for adding a fireplace?

With all of the types of fireplaces on the market today, the options for adding a fireplace to your home are virtually endless. Direct-vent gas fireplaces often are considered the gold standard. This is because of their convenience and efficiency. In addition, they can be placed on virtually any exterior wall of a home.

Wood-burning fireplace continue to be a popular choice for homeowners. In turn, homeowners with a ready supply of firewood will often install efficient wood-burning stoves or fireplace inserts to heat their home inexpensively and efficiently. For rooms that don’t allow for easy fireplace installation, a ventless gas fireplace can provide the perfect option: They can be installed nearly anywhere within a home and provide an efficient source of heat.
